I also had to make a snack for baby. It was a long evening of lunch making while finishing up dinner. I am hoping that after a few days of packing 3 lunches I will get into the grove a little more and it won't take me forever.<br />
<br />
Baby starts daycare tomorrow and I have no idea how happy they will be about his food. It's all sticky, mushy finger foods. But. it's what he eats at home to hopefully it will be alright there.<br />
<br />
For snack he has some cut kiwi and strawberry cheesecake muffins. Lunch is some PB&J, cucumbers and pepperoni, watermelon, cereal bar, and some raisins.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The big boy was so in love with dinner that I decided to scrap the meat and cheese roll ups I was going to do in favour of leftover dinner. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Together they weighed 10.3 at birth, that's tiny for 2 boys. I am always trying to find ways to give them a protein packed lunch to help them pack on the pounds since my almost 3yo is still in 12-18 month clothes.<br />
<br />
I opt for a lot of protein in his lunches since I give him fatty foods (the good kinda) for dinner and he also drinks protein shakes with daddy at night. Now, my kids love eggs, but I am a little worried about how they will do in lunches. So what's a mom to do? Enter breakfast sausages! These bad boys were on sale for 2/$5 and they also had .50 ¢ coupons on the packages, so I bought a bunch, cooked them and threw them in the freezer. Instant protein for breakfast <i style="font-weight: bold;">and </i>lunch. Woohoo!<br />
<br />
Mister Mister took, 2 jelly sandwiches with cheese toppers, 2 sausages with dip dip, fresh pears with sprinkles. cucumbers and baby pepperoni salad. yogurt covered raisins, and a apple cinnamon cereal bar.<br />
The only thing left in the box when he got home from camp were the picks and baran sheets!<br />

<br />
So I was stoked and planning meals, finding hotels and getting everything settled when he informs me that we would be leaving in 3 days time. OMG I panicked and had no idea how I was going to clean/pack/cook all in 3 days. I managed to get everything done and even had the stamina to snap a few pictures of our travel bentos.<br />
<br />
I bet a few of you are thinking what could I possibly have to plan aside from getting our butts so Sea World, well. <br />
Any time we travel I beg for a hotel that offers a hot breakfast as well have a kitchenette in the room. Why? Because the little extra money you spend on that room will save you from having to eat out every night. It is especially a lifesaver if you kids are not used to fast food. <i>Trust me.</i><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I packed our "on the road" food in our easy lunch boxes because I feel they travel the best, and there are 4 of them and 4 of us so it works.<br />

We finally made it to the hotel and I refused to cook so I gave in to my wild side and we had some Asian take out. I got back to the hotel, hastily made Sea World bentos and passed out because I knew while the park would be fun for the kids, it would be stressful for me.<br />
<br />
Little side note about the hotel, it was amazing! We had 2 actual bedrooms with adjoining baths, a full kitchen, dining room, and a decent living room. I love spreading out on a vacation, and hate being super quite after 7pm when the kids pass out.<br />

I researched and called Sea World to find out their outside food and drink policy because I really didn't want to pay $7 for a hot dog for my kids. After being directed to a gillion people I still don't know what a "reasonable amount" of bottled water is, it's 102 in Texas I vote 10 bottles per person. They were a little more lenient with foods, just small snacks and no loaves of bread. I packed 2 lunches like this for Sea World and some snack bars to hold us over in lines and mad dashes to shows.<br />

It's hot. I'm from the north and can not function in this heat. Hopefully that explains my lack of posting. It's just too hot to not sit directly under an air vent. Lame, I know.<br />
<br />
I'm kinda embarrased by today's bento. Big A insisted that I draw on the cheese that topped the sandwiches even though I explained cheese and food markers do not work well. Oh well, whateves I don't have to eat it.<br />
<br />
He had<br />
mini jelly sandwiches<br />
cheese toppers<br />
cereal bar<br />
2 sausages<br />
tomatoes<br />
blueberry applesauce<br />
and some oranges.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Of course the tomatoes went uneaten</td></tr>

<br />Everything was devoured, except the tomatoes. So I was pretty jazzed. <div>

Since it's Wednesday, we go to the pool after camp. I couldn't being the usual snack of fruit because I was picking up a friends kid who is one picky eater. Instead we all has some yogurt covered raisins, veggie sticks (minus Big A he had a cereal bar) and some fruit cookies. Just the right amount of food to keep them fueled for cannon balls without the tummy cramps ;) </div>

I knew I <b>had </b>to use them for Monday Madness.<br />
I don't have any Star Wars cutters, that needs to change, so I had to work around that. Hopefully it works. The husband approved and even told me how he wanted the sandwich decorated ;)<br />

If you were alive in the 90's I'm sure you do. I crave them, almost on a daily basis. Especially pregnant, I wanted to take a bath in them. A friend actually found some for our road trip to Texas when I was pregnant with Lil A. It was amazing.<br />
<br />
I set out to buy some on amazon and they were all sold out :( But there were a gillion recipes on Google so I set out to try one. I have no idea who actually created it, if you do lemme know and I'll link them ;)<br />
<br />
What you need for cookie goodness is<br />
1 box funfetti cake mix - just the mix<br />
1/2 tub cool whip - low fat, sugar free, chocolate, it really doesn't matter<br />
1 c - 1 1/2 c plain vanilla yogurt - all I had was Greek and it really didn't taste that off<br />
Animal crackers, cinnamon teddy grahams, really any cookie to dip with<br />
<br />
** Use sugar free yogurt and cool whip to make a low cal snack! Really, it's low cal.<br />
<br />
Mix everything together in a big old bowl and chill for a few hours or overnight. The DIG IN!<br />

<br />
On my third store of the day, the BX for you military folks, I only went to get a fancy candle and they had bento boxes just sitting on the end cap screaming at me to come look at them. Look I did, and I also bought 2 of the 3 they had to offer ;)<br />

The green one is my fav but I couldn't really get a picture of it opened. The bottom is undivided and the top part has 3 sections. It came with this weird water bottle that looks like a plastic flask that I don't think I'll be using. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The Star Wars one I just had to get. I have some Star Wars bento picks, but no cutters and this will be the perfect box to use them in! It opens all trasnformers style with a compartment for a sandwich and 3 sides. You can't move the dividers, but I think I can live with that. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I can not wait to play with these! If you can get to AAFES I suggest you check them out! They had tons of pink and purple for the girly girls and Monsters Inc ones like the Star Wars box. </div>

I've had people ask my how the heck I do it. Well, here it goes!<br />
<br />
In order to make a month's long shopping list, you need to plan a months worth of meals. I only need to plan dinner since we all eat the same things for breakfast everyday, daddy takes left over dinner for lunch, and the kids live on sandwiches and extra left over lunches. Totally works for our family.<br />
<br />
Plan out a detailed list of your dinners to include any side you are having. I always use a calender.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuXq1PxdbCK3aCRly4OT_4UR-KXmrJFN9MJv1DoUIzPiYc2onxpp7dz-WtkbLQ9kNyEeZ3eOAwLAiTlo_CgmT8mrBa4UT0MamwnxUMnNOd9PbrZfJMT9MsBHibO1vyVKpF9A-xhvhvT48O/s1600/1-IMG_3689.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuXq1PxdbCK3aCRly4OT_4UR-KXmrJFN9MJv1DoUIzPiYc2onxpp7dz-WtkbLQ9kNyEeZ3eOAwLAiTlo_CgmT8mrBa4UT0MamwnxUMnNOd9PbrZfJMT9MsBHibO1vyVKpF9A-xhvhvT48O/s320/1-IMG_3689.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Once you have your meals planned, go through each meal and tally up the items you need. Like for this month, I need 5 lbs of ground beef and 1 thing of asparagus<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqNXgVv9Tj29Zp-LpFfMahoMDhxkA8kw9JyuTfB_KMas3xPb6UDsoRmYs6987dWB00q4dsB_LWosPeWm-6LmEXLlnvW1Mn8Zs7I5_XtwhsJE_szknOMZ9-yTrijCyTWia_nxfVhQ0x1jdO/s1600/2-IMG_3691.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqNXgVv9Tj29Zp-LpFfMahoMDhxkA8kw9JyuTfB_KMas3xPb6UDsoRmYs6987dWB00q4dsB_LWosPeWm-6LmEXLlnvW1Mn8Zs7I5_XtwhsJE_szknOMZ9-yTrijCyTWia_nxfVhQ0x1jdO/s320/2-IMG_3691.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Make your list, check it twice and add any and all non perishables that you will need like diapers, cereal, soap, and candy for mommy ;)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once you have that list (told you I like lists) go through your pantry, fridge and freezer and adjust numbers based on what you already have. There is no need to buy more meat/veggies if you won't eat them this month</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So here is where the fun part comes in. Now you need to organize the list for the grocery store, I go to 3. That means I have to know what I buy at each store and separate the list accordingly.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small; text-align: left;">No idea what that top part says, the husband speaks Serbian, I do not. </span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have my book divided by store and just fill in what I need from each place like this </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ73M4ExbQSHkGvcfyyRoqI3jBawmqcxUKVaUjl2Wc3YPJ5mrGc1w0MbA1S89HGB8M34u6p-VLMQCt9j0PkRbhan7BfdmzkyCrzWiX7GnURmpvThGv5qVB9E6W0Uh7cfwDiCGPOE98gHLv/s1600/4-IMG_3694.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ73M4ExbQSHkGvcfyyRoqI3jBawmqcxUKVaUjl2Wc3YPJ5mrGc1w0MbA1S89HGB8M34u6p-VLMQCt9j0PkRbhan7BfdmzkyCrzWiX7GnURmpvThGv5qVB9E6W0Uh7cfwDiCGPOE98gHLv/s320/4-IMG_3694.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then I can just go on my merry way and check off my list as I go. I never forget anything, and thanks to the power of planning my family can eat a delicious dinner every night with no "OMG WE DON'T HAVE ONIONS" at about 5:15. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Also, making lists is a great way to find out where you impulse buys are and adjust the budget if I need to. If something is not on my list, I add it when I get home so I can chastise myself for buying that bag of chips that no one will eat. If my budget is a little high one month, I can look back so see where/how I bought or spent more and adjust on that. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Lists make me happy, and so does feeding 3 men on a budget. Hope you agree! </div>

I hate my current fridge, and being in Military housing, I have no choice. It's one of those side by sides with the fake glass shelves? Well you know what? The consolidation on those bad boys always make my fridge look absolutely disgusting, and sticky finger prints seem to fuse to the shelves. I really do hate these fridges.<br />
I had to do something before I pulled out all my hair. Then, it came to me. Press and seal saran wrap! I've never actually used it, but I know people that swear by it.<br />
<br />
I <strike>forced</strike> asked the husband to pick some up on his way home and I am so stinking happy.<br />
<br />
Just take out the shelves (one at a time) clean and stick the stuff on! I had some issues with it at first, but I simply wet the edge of the shelves and it stuck like magical glue. I know the package says to use a dry surface, but the cold wasn't helping things!<br />
<br />

<br />It looks kinda funky, but I tested it out and it was amazing! I spilled some sticky canned fruit and it didn't leak on my nice clean shelves. <div>

But, I had to get stuff done, so I didn't and I totally regret it.<br />
<br />
There was about 3.2 minutes until Big A got home from camp and I *had* to feed him something that resembled a snack. I threw a bunch of finger foods in a box with some picks and have officially called it a day.<br />
<br />
He got some<br />
Grapes<br />
Watermelon balls<br />
Zucchini slices - which I really hoped he would at least try<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdpLlJ5AY4xezHnz1Oims1bq3xsLrCKqIlc3pXbv_4Nf8euCud_DI275ngUdLzS5ufja2hL_-KdJr_gtYkARacqKsbObyklqcBZll4cZyKmgDguDDiKS8aOJ-Oi5iqXJIqD6no6UkejEQf/s1600/1-IMG_3660.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdpLlJ5AY4xezHnz1Oims1bq3xsLrCKqIlc3pXbv_4Nf8euCud_DI275ngUdLzS5ufja2hL_-KdJr_gtYkARacqKsbObyklqcBZll4cZyKmgDguDDiKS8aOJ-Oi5iqXJIqD6no6UkejEQf/s320/1-IMG_3660.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">BAM, snack is served</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />Of course he didn't want to even try the zucchini and wanted more watermelon, that didn't happen. All the has to do is eat one little slice. But NOPE!<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And now if you will excuse me, I have to go lay in the doorway to the kids room so I know they are safe and can maybe catch a 5 minute nap.<br /><br /></div>

Almost fall right? It's July in Texas, and it's hot. Like fry an egg on the sidewalk hot. The last thing I wanted to do was hang out in the kitchen and put together a bento for tomorrow.<br />
Soo I did this lickity split and hightailed my self out there as fast as I could.<br />
<br />
This is what I ended up with while sweating and cursing the placement of the air vents.<br />
I threw some boat stuff together and really hope it looks awesome enough for Big A to eat.<br />
<br />
He has<br />
Jelly and cream cheese cut in half to fit<br />
vanilla filled cookie<br />
3/4 cereal bar with fruit leather cut outs<br />
1/4 meatloaf muffin<br />
Vienna sausages<br />
and<br />
Grapes<br />
in the first box<br />
<br />
<br />
Watermelon<br />
&<br />
Oranges in the other box<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Hopefully he eats it all. He should, but it's really too hot for me to think about that right now.<br />
<br />
Excuse me, I must go take a bath in ice water<br />
<br />

It must be a FridayFridays equal pizza in a lot of households, mine included. Being from New York I love a good pizza and could eat it every night. Buy my wallet did not like it when we ate pizza at least once a week so I had to fix the situation.<br />
<br />
After many failed store bought crusts and silly recipes from the interwebs I came up with a fantastic thin crust recipe. <br />
I guarantee this will turn out right every time if you follow the directions, no guess work involved<br />

He refuses to eat them. I can not figure out what the heck is going on with him. So, of course he gets them at every meal to try and prompt him to eat. No amount of dip dip and cute picks are working.<br />
Grumble<br />
<br />
<br />
For the past two days I have given him mixed veggies for lunch and dinner. Still no dice. What is a mom supposed to do, aside from forcing them in his mouth? And I am pretty sure that would be child abuse.<br />
<br />
<br />
Thursday's dinner was cantaloupe, steak fingers, mixed veggies, and a cheese lion. He ate everything except for the veggies.<br />

Friday's finger foods were basically Thursday dinner reheated. He asked for it, and it saved me time so I rolled with it. Steak fingers, mixed veggie kebab, mandarin oranges (babies), and rabbit and bear cheese.<br />

Mainly because they have a Military discount for my friends who weren't cool like me and bought a season pass. So with summer camp, my run, and the pool there isn't a lot of bento and cute food making at the T house on Wednesdays. They still get bentos, but they are much simpler and easier to throw in a diaper bag.<br />
<br />
Also, there isn't a lot of internet action going on either. We don't watch TV or even have cable for that matter, so completely unplugging and just being with your kids is an amazing thing.<br />
<br />
The kids got to eat their snack in peace, without me taking pictures of it. Big A actually tried to pose for me even thought I didn't have the camera. Aww.<br />
I got to put my phone down and not worry about emails/tweets/texts for a few hours.<br />
<br />
Basically, turn the stuff off and and bask in the glory of the day.<br />
Just remember to reapply sunscreen on yourself after you slather the kids.<br />
<i>TRUST ME </i><br />

Without further ado, here is Tuesdays lunch. He had a pretty hefty snack and he wouldn't let me add anything else to his lunch. Guess he wasn't that hungry.<br />
It was a PB&J bagel sandwich, half a giant marshmallow with fruit leather, a cantaloupe slice and *homemade* grapefruit apple sauce with sprinkles.<br />

The husband man is working a crazy shift and is requiring both lunch and dinner bentos each day, so to save meat money, the kids get to pig out on finger foods.<br />
For dinner they had fish sticks, mixed veggies, another melon slice, and a froggie made out of cheese.<br />
The veggies proved to be a nightmare. This kid just started refusing them all of a sudden. It's driving me bonkers.AshleyLizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05404345047430958166noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1316286718724980638.post-46957218008784773252013-07-23T10:06:00.000-07:002013-07-23T10:06:32.380-07:00Eggs? Yes please! <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Eggs are a standard breakfast food for the T clan. We go through a dozen in about 3 - 4 days, and that's just breakfast foods. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was asked by a friend to make eggs in mini muffin pans that her kids could eat for breakfast. Well, challenge accepted. And these are my final results. An egg sandwich with a mini bagel, half a muffin bar, and some grapes. The sandwich was inhaled about 5 seconds after I added dip dip (ketchup) to the plate. That's a win, especially because there are some yummy veggies cooked in the eggs. Wanna know how I did it? Of course you do. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I didn't get many pictures bc my kids were having a play date when I created this. Actually, I only got pictures of the finished products. Don't hate me. Please?<br />
<br />
You need<br />
- mini muffin pan - a regular one will work<br />
- 4 eggs<br />
- splash of milk - you need it so substitute it if you can't use dairy<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEC7LD-6ZR0Kbx6-IEs4WFtqfvAvf6cF87LL3RFgeNTKXg3jghWglI6uuNdRIDUWcwyGkzwK7pkFAUt6k0mrtFgcZORnZDAU8dG-gV7rlwAcedqShrbpDnnWtDhB_THD0DeHIpQoP7lGzK/s1600/1-IMG_3506.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEC7LD-6ZR0Kbx6-IEs4WFtqfvAvf6cF87LL3RFgeNTKXg3jghWglI6uuNdRIDUWcwyGkzwK7pkFAUt6k0mrtFgcZORnZDAU8dG-gV7rlwAcedqShrbpDnnWtDhB_THD0DeHIpQoP7lGzK/s320/1-IMG_3506.JPG" width="239" /></a>- cheese! as much shredded as you like. I used 1/2 c<br />
- 1/4 - 1/4 c chopped veggies. I did onions, orange peppers, and a smidge of left over zucchini<br />
- seasonings to taste. I used 1tsp of garlic, salt, pepper<br />
- Bacon crumbles (optional)<br />
- 12 mini bagels<br />
<br />
Preheat oven to 350<br />
Mix everything together in a big bowl. Waft the smell ( I love that word) and add more seasonings as needed.<br />
Spray muffin pan with non stick spray and fill 3/4 of the way with egg mixture.<br />
*if using a regular muffin pan fill about 1/4 of the way<br />
Bake for about 15-20 mins or until set<br />
<br />
While cooking lightly toast bagels and prepare foil if freezing (which worked out awesomely)<br />
<br />
Pop eggs out of the muffin pan and assemble sandwiches! It's that simple.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwLdMDcBA5WFcBpuwjfh_mxOjizDh43zcK3pLaGksP5mmkVZAYoArdIXriKSTYMevekDVRI1vu-LujhWCCfLCPzjpVhPxZPMbfAef3SxAKpLIH_sbVDBbEzdGKDZUdU7puEXEiSX4a72wE/s1600/2-IMG_3507.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwLdMDcBA5WFcBpuwjfh_mxOjizDh43zcK3pLaGksP5mmkVZAYoArdIXriKSTYMevekDVRI1vu-LujhWCCfLCPzjpVhPxZPMbfAef3SxAKpLIH_sbVDBbEzdGKDZUdU7puEXEiSX4a72wE/s320/2-IMG_3507.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Now, either my mini bagels are huge, or my mini muffin pan is super tiny, but the eggs didn't fit how I wanted so I kinda squished them until they fit the bagel.AshleyLizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05404345047430958166noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1316286718724980638.post-80049748637013568212013-07-22T11:51:00.001-07:002013-07-22T11:51:56.003-07:00Pancakes and breakfast happiness It's no surprise that I like to have my freezer stash stocked for breakfast foods, snacks and lunches. This is because I require a stupid amount of coffee to function before I can even think about turning the stove on. I also hate feeding them cereal because they are always starving 2 seconds later and it's not exactly a balanced meal.<br />
<br />
So without further ado, here is my not so secret secret pancake recipe. These babies are super fluffy and reheat like a charm<br />
<br />
Makes 12-15 medium size pancakes<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi258dacM9Xf6UI9dhKLz6OPw0_MshE-w3YJLU0rVEJFDyRQcpLG55ihlM4QtYpPcS2dQmbKZqN9SCjIe3zcKzSgqZy9u9llrKIgvkBWA2-_pVWY-1ZBcGIsQsof636fvNLtCnnTNlJ5frH/s1600/1-IMG_3484.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi258dacM9Xf6UI9dhKLz6OPw0_MshE-w3YJLU0rVEJFDyRQcpLG55ihlM4QtYpPcS2dQmbKZqN9SCjIe3zcKzSgqZy9u9llrKIgvkBWA2-_pVWY-1ZBcGIsQsof636fvNLtCnnTNlJ5frH/s320/1-IMG_3484.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
1 cup flour<br />
2 TBS baking powder<br />
2 TBS sugar<br />
1 TSP salt<br />
2 TBS oil - I use vegetable or canola <br />
1 C milk<br />
1 egg beaten<br />
1 - 2 TSP vanilla<br />
* if you want to go crazy add a dash of nutmeg, you won't regret it<br />
<br />
Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl and mix the wet in a separate bowl.<br />
Add the wet stuff to the dry, mix well (not too much)<br />
Then let sit while your griddle/pan heats up.<br />
Why let it sit? IDK some magic in that makes the pancakes all fluffy and delicious<br />
<br />
I go the extra 2.6 seconds and cut mine into shapes right after the come off the pan. Why? because it's super cute and the kids go bananas for them. I save the scraps and just tear them up when the shapes start to get boring.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp1FvisJm7CGZ9_t-IZG3mejfxaiR45G-Vm8o339mqUOZFICsd4Dah-q308TR4UfjSWcyr7MeoRxiVPMQgqd7C3pjB3NsK-QjHHyQbWjFDv6_kMOMWn40mRMvuKNEsSi2J84q61ybHSmV0/s1600/3-IMG_3487.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp1FvisJm7CGZ9_t-IZG3mejfxaiR45G-Vm8o339mqUOZFICsd4Dah-q308TR4UfjSWcyr7MeoRxiVPMQgqd7C3pjB3NsK-QjHHyQbWjFDv6_kMOMWn40mRMvuKNEsSi2J84q61ybHSmV0/s320/3-IMG_3487.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I went a little nuts and cut out some fruit leather and plopped them on the pancakes. Maybe he will stop calling trucks "car-cars" and cars "vroom-vrooms" Took me about 3 minutes, mostly bc I had kids climbing up my legs to play with the cutters.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So his snacks need to be something more than just a single piece of fruit or a cookie.<br />
<br />
I made his snack in my new robot container from Target and I think it's pretty darn cute.<br />

Just 2 almond windmill cookies (the pack was on sale for $0.50!!!), some grapes, and peaches with dried cranberries in the middle. That should be enough to hold him off the starvation train until dinner. I hopeAshleyLizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05404345047430958166noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1316286718724980638.post-9198930992974612832013-07-21T16:29:00.000-07:002013-07-21T16:29:00.864-07:00Octopus Hot Dogs! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Since it's Monday madness, I basically make all the cute stuff I want and hope it works in a lunch . And this week I wanted to do something cute with hot dogs. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Enter the octopus hot dog. Super easy to make, you just need to time it right because they take a hot minute to cook. I like to cut them and let them cook while I am making the bento fillers and then doing the dishes. Makes me feel like less time is wasted </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I used my new Goodbyn box from Target and decided to go nuts. A really wanted a hot dog and I really wanted to make a soot sprite sandwich. We both won. He also got some applesauce and left over birthday cake in the 2 cup container. In the main is the hot dogs with ketchup to dip, grilled cheese sandwich, heart cucumbers, and mandarin oranges.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCDDwA_C8qN9x690T3ldunyLCbO1P0svbFH4ChygT6pkqQ6X53ubj2ffJ8iJPcQTIY0_cvh6qFNF3DlelsxzS0HgNrUq9kNeuO7_kz8IPCHIM63iBCwlM81VVmQ3G40aSb4wWp6CB0yIMM/s1600/1-IMG_3475.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCDDwA_C8qN9x690T3ldunyLCbO1P0svbFH4ChygT6pkqQ6X53ubj2ffJ8iJPcQTIY0_cvh6qFNF3DlelsxzS0HgNrUq9kNeuO7_kz8IPCHIM63iBCwlM81VVmQ3G40aSb4wWp6CB0yIMM/s320/1-IMG_3475.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
See that grilled cheese? Totally used all the cheese scraps that have been accumulating in my fridge. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0vMmvAvspH3QSkHHXK2AlxPr5DpTTOgcM6z-LboyrRMI03KiDuLz5kNwHNZwNkCfnANSZ56HuslLAhs0RanrlW4T9SKjNACxuaXmD2sBuHoM6EQYd6Ae_xMEfWg3zndSGSOfs6YYC9MZ3/s1600/01-IMG_3455.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0vMmvAvspH3QSkHHXK2AlxPr5DpTTOgcM6z-LboyrRMI03KiDuLz5kNwHNZwNkCfnANSZ56HuslLAhs0RanrlW4T9SKjNACxuaXmD2sBuHoM6EQYd6Ae_xMEfWg3zndSGSOfs6YYC9MZ3/s320/01-IMG_3455.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
See? Leftover as it's finest. Lil A got the scraps from cutting the sandwich for his lunch. Double score</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now, on to hotdogs. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You will need</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
- Hot dog(s)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
- Sharp knife</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
- Pot of boiling water</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
First, you are going to cut the hot dog in thirds. You could also do halves. Whichever</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuPmLaHEKCzXKPmNRcdg83qiQG9QbkxFED86ZgYjMpFVwrAvhmv_mBfzgV0UErT4_Kk0PA7j3Lfxj-7JyfbyHqIUskGheMglPEsuGKmYxa3jIVA0zvKN8HRWhaE0wFGsSqw5VvCfuGqcI3/s1600/02-IMG_3456.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuPmLaHEKCzXKPmNRcdg83qiQG9QbkxFED86ZgYjMpFVwrAvhmv_mBfzgV0UErT4_Kk0PA7j3Lfxj-7JyfbyHqIUskGheMglPEsuGKmYxa3jIVA0zvKN8HRWhaE0wFGsSqw5VvCfuGqcI3/s320/02-IMG_3456.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then, take your ends and cut them about 2/3 of the way up into fourths. Confused? Me too. Here's a picture. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaXkSrUBwU5uzNheNKWJMa9GkArYApn2d2pBMQGjsaWm7aMUM9Vldu-em35_Q_dPBZ_NMDUdJgQv6AV_P6a0kDNXA5EQ2KEuwbeSrdUCSt2YlALnFi1LTj7F3_GHCRW6ZnKyl1tq9bsYDD/s1600/03-IMG_3458.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaXkSrUBwU5uzNheNKWJMa9GkArYApn2d2pBMQGjsaWm7aMUM9Vldu-em35_Q_dPBZ_NMDUdJgQv6AV_P6a0kDNXA5EQ2KEuwbeSrdUCSt2YlALnFi1LTj7F3_GHCRW6ZnKyl1tq9bsYDD/s320/03-IMG_3458.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #444444;"><i>This is what we are going for</i></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then, you are going to cut each section again. You can either cut from the bottom or the top. I like going from the top better. When I cut from underneath one of mine had 9 cuts. No clue how that happened </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now that the cutting is done, we have to cook the hot dogs so the legs curl and look cute. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You can do this in 3 ways. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You can pan fry them - with or without water</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Boil them in a deep pot</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Deep fry them in hot oil - This works best for me, but I don't have a deep fryer anymore ;(</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #444444;"><i>Pan with water - takes FOREVER </i></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8r-_CZtnpspnKIzaroIfKZduDqy0FgFTpUiCae3i6A5hfK04K8Z-PqAVY8EF105lPxMejBCHIQja3Mz93QOqfeoc1SDJiRv4vCyowxa4FDmIBIW1e2bzM0Zc9WvVcwo1-eUGy9VKaXke2/s1600/09-IMG_3469.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8r-_CZtnpspnKIzaroIfKZduDqy0FgFTpUiCae3i6A5hfK04K8Z-PqAVY8EF105lPxMejBCHIQja3Mz93QOqfeoc1SDJiRv4vCyowxa4FDmIBIW1e2bzM0Zc9WvVcwo1-eUGy9VKaXke2/s320/09-IMG_3469.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So when your hot dogs are done, they should look something like this, or even a little better. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I took the middle of the hot dog and cut it into slices to lift the pretty ones up in his lunch. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was in a rush to get them done so I only boiled them for about 3 minutes. We had a date with the horsedog and our backyard this afternoon. </div>

So we all know I'm a little obsessed with bentos right? Well, I heard that Target was selling bento boxes and had had had to go check it out.<br />
I am super glad I did, they had 4 different types of boxes and I wanted them all, but the kids needed new shoes so I could only get one box and a snack container. Sad panda.<br />
<br />
Let's talk new bentos, I had to figure out which one would fit in the lunch bag we already had and which one would be best for food portions.<br />
I decided on this one! It's a Goodbyn on the go and I LOVE IT. It was $8.99 - I think.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfW3084obNKHvrN6m_aIRPoH8xiyuPhGll7liMv7Cy7QQk4IWosa9iN4IPaOTQ6InT6UqlFRayGN01mrdYhBNRaQyhv_-Uyb45EGZrAl6ckadDDe2oURBCSy0PJVjSQR7fnC7WUrcWT7QF/s1600/2-IMG_3480.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfW3084obNKHvrN6m_aIRPoH8xiyuPhGll7liMv7Cy7QQk4IWosa9iN4IPaOTQ6InT6UqlFRayGN01mrdYhBNRaQyhv_-Uyb45EGZrAl6ckadDDe2oURBCSy0PJVjSQR7fnC7WUrcWT7QF/s320/2-IMG_3480.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPcUF9LJrKEJ1NvzYxvDQLtewcs7OWsiA38d9rVcqvLHZMFCUxkNEpx-s88L9Lcxqpz8zfx8ivgvk6WuoPg-IXBbBuSfgTlupES_o4zE2SXS7E1k32TxXTshRvHqJt_Dc_1-rGFJYfSKfG/s1600/3-IMG_3481.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPcUF9LJrKEJ1NvzYxvDQLtewcs7OWsiA38d9rVcqvLHZMFCUxkNEpx-s88L9Lcxqpz8zfx8ivgvk6WuoPg-IXBbBuSfgTlupES_o4zE2SXS7E1k32TxXTshRvHqJt_Dc_1-rGFJYfSKfG/s320/3-IMG_3481.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A was playing with it in the store, that's why the box in empty. But it has two main containers and a little dip cup. The main container should be enough for a lunch if you plan it right, but I wanted to play with all of it! I tested the 2 cup container with applesauce, and turning it upside down and after flinging it around, not one single leak. That's a score in my book. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is the little snack bin I got for about $2. I'll use it for grocery trips and play date snacks for the summer. But in fall when Lil A goes to nursery school, this will be the prefect size for his baby lunches. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I can't wait to show you guys what I have done with the Goodbyn box! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Not in my house, we rotate back and forth between a select few shapes.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
First we have the kitty. A is so used to having cheese cut in the shape of a kitty, he now calls cheese kitty. Very <strike>annoying </strike> adorable. Just a plain jelly and cream cheese sandwich with a cut up hotdog for some protein. Pair that with raisins, cantaloupe and some fruit cookies and we have a lunch!<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvWe0ofdi4sovDWM16Z3ieIIpQyMJSk5hcVQxEfNCcF-lzsnzy77TRwmjceubhyXwt0yLRKh0j-IRFPAUFjMScjzimTh2EnQDM181a3gB8m7VPrKwz8TkQ7qqO1wRS-wyRB_afbPih8DMM/s1600/25-IMG_2986.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvWe0ofdi4sovDWM16Z3ieIIpQyMJSk5hcVQxEfNCcF-lzsnzy77TRwmjceubhyXwt0yLRKh0j-IRFPAUFjMScjzimTh2EnQDM181a3gB8m7VPrKwz8TkQ7qqO1wRS-wyRB_afbPih8DMM/s320/25-IMG_2986.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next, we have the car-car and vroom vroom. This boy loves his cars (which are really trucks). In an effort to make each cut out look like the actual thing I free handed some cheese and cucumber slices for the fire truck. I did use a hot sauce cap for the wheels. I can not cut a straight line, let alone circles. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Below are the same cutters, just decorated a bit differently. Those extra 2 minutes make the world of difference. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk7UiCTMQGueyP6lYJA3WS8pNpBTfSp6rIw3CmPQdzbRs8XeCLhcI1SAJMdXuGhLfv-57FtN6nw0oWf6DWQ2HQSynHwEVKWA38-L0uyn7Rbm7kJ96mzH0c_3xw8oGmQk3vQhtlxrcEUoyr/s1600/32-IMG_2858.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk7UiCTMQGueyP6lYJA3WS8pNpBTfSp6rIw3CmPQdzbRs8XeCLhcI1SAJMdXuGhLfv-57FtN6nw0oWf6DWQ2HQSynHwEVKWA38-L0uyn7Rbm7kJ96mzH0c_3xw8oGmQk3vQhtlxrcEUoyr/s320/32-IMG_2858.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #444444;"> AWESOME firetruck </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgS46fUEcNMNJ6gztTHvMXf2lZZFzqHwV3Z1BoGBEjH4okJPQ0z3WSFKlaYG0mW3OhSug3X_1uplYhTr-hzyizu80YJIzIvWcgMDW7HYu3_G-0XqbFTaZ3rbToBo-0vbrADSsTh5_LJQAq/s1600/36-IMG_2817.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgS46fUEcNMNJ6gztTHvMXf2lZZFzqHwV3Z1BoGBEjH4okJPQ0z3WSFKlaYG0mW3OhSug3X_1uplYhTr-hzyizu80YJIzIvWcgMDW7HYu3_G-0XqbFTaZ3rbToBo-0vbrADSsTh5_LJQAq/s320/36-IMG_2817.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Sad firetruck </span></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Last, we have the fishy. The kid is in super love with this bread, I am not super in love with the price. A loaf of wheat bread is a whopping $1.22 and this is more costly. I freeze the bread and use it as an extra special treat. What makes it more awesome is the little candy eye to give it that POP.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
With they fishy, he has cantaloupe, a hard boiled egg, grapes, raisins and a homemade fruit roll up. Every bite of food was gone when he came home. More validation that this bento idea was a step in the right direction. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJgIqmAE9gLx1Ig5eyB7XZ9GoSf5qPim_nj8zqkACswwZ3biZ_z_kdD_e4oQEr71pdMQwaDZWPbJ_HyJEW6S3DqjZcKWsTF_9Gfc8Ht5BvTXSoPUG5AIT_qHzTQov0hN2czcpyMNQyrmu4/s1600/26-IMG_2972.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJgIqmAE9gLx1Ig5eyB7XZ9GoSf5qPim_nj8zqkACswwZ3biZ_z_kdD_e4oQEr71pdMQwaDZWPbJ_HyJEW6S3DqjZcKWsTF_9Gfc8Ht5BvTXSoPUG5AIT_qHzTQov0hN2czcpyMNQyrmu4/s320/26-IMG_2972.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Hopefully you will continue to join us on out bento adventure. And hopefully A will let me branch out a bit with cutters or this is going to get boring fast. </div>
AshleyLizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05404345047430958166noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1316286718724980638.post-1868440861991104522013-07-20T12:03:00.000-07:002013-07-20T12:03:56.702-07:00Take out bentoSometimes I <strike>ship</strike> lovingly take my kids off to a Kids Night out Program. It's a great program and it's $20 for both my kids and I can leave them there for 4.5 hours. What could be better? Well, it just also happened to by my birthday<br />
WIN WIN for everyone!<br />
<br />
The only thing I don't enjoy is that drop off is at 6 and parents are encouraged to bring a dinner for their child. I get that it's a night out and a drive thru window might seem like a God send, but, but, but sending a kid with his own pizza (yup always happens) or sending your baby, under 15 months, with a Happy Meal and a SODA (I was enraged at this) is not always the best option for them. Can't you grab them a deli sandwich and some baked chips? Please?!?<br />
<br />
Well, in comes my kids. They are not phased by bright colourful bags of take out because they hardly get it, and when they do I put it all nice on a plate, but Big A still likes to eat with the other kids.<br />
Cue take out bentos!<br />
<br />
All those berry containers or even plastic lunch mean containers sitting in your recycling bin are total game for a take and toss bento. Like when your kids go on field trips, pack a lunch instead of risking lunch boxes getting left on a bus or whatnot.<br />
<br />
It's a pretty simple idea, but it's really hard to pack colorful foods mainly bc I try and use foods that require no refrigeration and that don't have liquid. But work with what you have and go wild!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaHHoyiXmnCf2u2QuWws9I0wfFDzHQTIR8Nj0GlWb7nEDZ0Ai6ToH2JhJ1LFrPsw0EJ3S16rMAH6A2o8rFzYvYJRpGBvEKSz2KBOwBXqXkLbJVn8t46BMaCqdwiqHEgaGIoOFLDyHtluRT/s1600/3-IMG_3407.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaHHoyiXmnCf2u2QuWws9I0wfFDzHQTIR8Nj0GlWb7nEDZ0Ai6ToH2JhJ1LFrPsw0EJ3S16rMAH6A2o8rFzYvYJRpGBvEKSz2KBOwBXqXkLbJVn8t46BMaCqdwiqHEgaGIoOFLDyHtluRT/s320/3-IMG_3407.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
First gather what you can safely send with out an ice pack or microwave. </div>
I chose<br />
- Jelly sandwich<br />
- Choc chip muffin bar<br />
- Pop corn<br />
- Fruit cookies<br />
- and a super cold already cooked fish stick <br />
<i>* It's cooked so good to eat and will reach room temp by the time he eats</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
Before you cut anything, make sure it will fit in the container. I had to try about 13 cutters before I settled on the airplane. And then 12 cutters were taken by little hands and I am <b>still</b> looking for them.<br />

Get everything all nice and cut, and put your bottom layer in the container. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I like to use popcorn or veggie straws because it will raise everything up and make it easier for little hands to get. Then just arrange everything on top to make it fit. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Super easy </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Now you have something you can feel good about your kids eating, and feel good about not making a silly amount of garbage on a simple lunch.dinner <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Pair a dinner with snacks for both kids in their adorable reusable bags, and off they go! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I filled the bags with frozen mini muffins from my stash for two reasons. Baby would eat them as a dinner and he is teething <b>again </b>so it will feel good on his gums. And they would be thawed by the time Big A finished his dinner and was ready for a snack.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
See why freezer stashes are so awesome? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
Oh oh oh. Since it was my birthday and I am a teeny tiny bit obsessed with bentos, my awesome husband ordered me a ton of stuff (like 26 items) from <a href="http://www.allthingsforsale.com/" target="_blank">Bento USA</a> and these<br />
